Sunrider Leadership Convention was a blast!

Dear Sunrider Leaders,

I have just returned from the Palm Desert Sunrider Leadership Seminar and doing meeting in Arizona … and it was great! Everyone had a grand time. Dr. Chen was in fine form and gave a talk on the value of the Sunrider products. They announced they are working on a Hollywood quality “Evening with Dr. Chen” DVD that will clearly show the value of our products and the philosophy of regeneration behind the products. We are looking forward to adding this tool to our Sunrider materials, but no date was announced as to when it would be available.

It seemed the main focus of this seminar was to help us appreciate the value of our products, talking about the products, the importance of acquiring and keeping customers, and the possibility of opening an APO or Sunrider store, which of course is voluntary here in the United States and Canada.

This week I saw an email where an IBO lamented that they were afraid to talk about the products. Eliminate this fear if you have it! I have always maintained that the Sunrider story has to be a 2-part message … the value of the products and the value of our financial opportunity. This boils down to the cardinal rule of how to share Sunrider … listen to people’s NEEDS! Pretty much every problem, need, or want comes back to a lack of health or finances … and we can offer a solution for both. Make sure you are ready to share this message with everyone.

As with most of our conventions and Leadership Seminars it helped refocus our objectives and goals. This is the main reason for having these meetings, so make sure you plan on coming to the Grand Convention next summer, July 20-25th. If you are actively building and sponsoring, the TIF fund can go a long way to covering your costs.

Coming from the north cold country to Desert Palm’s sunny 80 degree weather was a wonderful break. Marge Mettenete and her husband John, Group BLs from Sandy, Utah asked if I’d like to be on their golf team for the Sunrider Scramble Golf Tournament. We rounded out our team with Bill Oram, a BL from Pocatello, ID. I was the only one who had rarely touched a golf club (four previous times to be exact), so my main job was to provide entertainment. After going through a half dozen balls in the first few holes, I found out that the only club that seemed to bond with me was a 3 wood. I could drive, do the sand thing, putt … well, not putt, but darn near everything else with one club. It took the burden off of John from telling me each time what to use. Anyway, John was an exceptional golfer with Bill being right behind him. Marge did pretty darn good for a tennis player … and I flailed away at anything that moved … and took pictures. But lest you think I was just dead weight, there was a rule that we had to use one drive from each player. And somewhere along the way I made one of those Hail Mary, walk on water, near miracle drives that put the ball on the green. So I wasn’t totally worthless. We all made for a great team, and we took first place out of the five SR teams. We golfed 2 under par … I had no idea what that was, but apparently it was good. So we all got a nice trophy and had a great time starting the week off. In all fairness, it should be mentioned that one other team tied with us in numbers and apparently there is a golfing version of flipping the coin (without a coin) to break the tie … and we came out on top … so much for my golfing career. Since I have not used those muscles since my accident, I finished the night off in the hot tub. When I got out of bed the next morning I could hardly move … but being undaunted …

We went touring. Enough said about that other than on our bus, after being bestowed the great honor of bus captain … the pay was terrible … and realizing the greatest skill of leadership is delegation … I delegated entertaining the troops to Andrea Lander, a Master BL from Calgary, Canada. So we had a great time getting to and fro while listening to many Sunrider leaders share their stories, along with Andrea regaling us with her humor … and we finished off the night in the hot tub.

Wednesday was getting a tan day and John Tang gave some training, which if you have not heard him lately … John is always good for a lot of laughs and great information … and finished off the night in the hot tub Jim Pendree, his lovely wife, and myself.

Thursday was the main session where Dr. Chen talked product for the morning and Oi-Lin covered the marketing program as well as many SR Leaders sharing their wisdom on building the business. Since I didn’t take notes I shall refrain from names and topics for fear that I’d be less than accurate, but I will say that you never hear from these leaders without finding something being said that helps one to refocus.

We finished off the event with dinner, local leader talent, and a dance … which with my bum leg I just observed from a distance … and, you guessed it, finished off the night in the hot tub.

These events are just plain fun, educational, motivational, and focusing. It fills up the tank so we can go out and build our business with excitement and confidence. Here are a few pictures from the event, go to ...
