SR Leadership Palm Springs

2009

Our first stop on the Leadership trip was at Silver Master Sharyn Wynter's newly redecorated home.

This is the sight that greeted me when I went for a Calli break. This is the sink and faucet in her main bathroom. You can imagine what the rest of the house is like.

A night spent laughing with Richard, Silver Master Sheryl Fitzharris, Sharyn, and Sheryl's hubby Tim Bullenger. Tim is the architech that designed Sharyn's remodel. He did everything from design of house, inside and outside, landscaping, furniture, etc. I was really impressed! If you have a lot of money and want an amazing home ... call Tim.

Bigger view of Sharyn's kitchen ... where most people spend most of their time.

Monday's golf tournament. This is John and Marge Mettenet. Marge got me into this and John ... well, got me out of it ... in first place no less.

Yours truly in the classic golfing pose ... including lost look on face.

Marv Peterson and LaMar Mortensen, who both have lofty SR ranking that I don't know exactly what they are, who are the senior but extremely healthy section of our Sunrider golfing group.

Paul Harrington, Silver Master, representing the northeastern conservative section of our league.

Our arch rivals. Golden Group JW and Lois Emerson, Don Caster, taking a well deserved break, and a friend that I don't recognize. Apparently they did as good or better than us, but for some reason known only to folks who understand golfing lingo ... they took a 2 stroke penalty ... of which we were terribly grateful.

Group Business Leader Maurine Snelgrove from Canada getting ready to show her skills.

On my way to the golf course who should I bump into but Kay and Bob Goshen ... shopping. From the size of the smile it appears Kay is having more fun than Bob.

First night at the hot tub with the ladies.

This is our venerable bus captain right in the middle of his best joke. Notice the nice inflection of voice.

Master Business Leader, Andrea Langer and Vern. (Sorry Vern I haven't used your last name enough to remember it.) Notice Andrea is still smiling even after being saddled with the awsome responsibility of entertaining the troops. She did a great job!

Group hug!!!!!!

More group hugs!!!!

Keeping the Canadian section of the bus happy is Diana Harrington and Donna Thomas-Taylor.

And bringing up the rear of the bus is Sharon Farnsworth-Elkon and family. I think she is studying the marketing changes document ... trying to figure it out no doubt.

This is our group at the airplane museum. I ditched the group and tried to go for a ride in ...

this B-17 ... but the fellows there were unmoved ... this plane is flyable, but not flying.

I did, however, find this old Korean war pilot and we had a great time talking plane talk. Incidently, this is the type of airplane my second cousin flew with the famous Flying Tigers in China previous to WWII.

The second part of our tour was to go up the tram to the top of the mountain. The interesting part of this tram is that the floor rotates 360 degrees or more on the way up the mountain so you can either see all the views or get motion sickness ... this is our first level Business Leaders Bill and LaRae Oram from Idaho. You don't recognize Bill because he isn't wearing his golfing duds, but he was the 4th of our foursome ... and Bill actually knows how to golf ... unlike some folks we know.

This would be some seriously rough skiing ...

At the top most folks ...

went hiking ...

... while I held up the fence.

Bringing us to the end of day two at the hot tub with Canadian Golden Group Jim Pendree with his wife Natalia.

And the always beautiful Karen Dees helped us finish off the convention at the training ...

... and a food tasting session where we tasted different products and specifically, Paul and Rita Harrington dispensed what appears to be ... well, something ...

The Sugai family, Group Business Leaders from Hawaii showed off Kandesn with Steve squirting what we hope is Kandesn on someone's hand.

And Silver Master Nancy Donahue and friend from Montana totally enjoying the evening.

Donna Thomas-Taylor and Bill DeKramer.

And lastly ... Group Business Leader and a great dancer Maylene Robinson ... who come to think if it now has a differnet last name that I, again, don't remember. She came to the convention in spite of being 8 months pregnant.

And of course, the last night was spent at the hot tub ... where you can see we are having a blast. Look closely because I think the person in the lower left hand corner is actually ... well, maybe not.

My apologies to those folks that I don't recognize and don't know their names ... and those that I do recognize ... and still don't remember their names. I hope my photo skills will improve at future events.
