is Your Vision … Crabs or Turtles? |
Dear Sunrider Business Leader,
Some time ago my family had the
opportunity to spend a couple of weeks in Hawaii sharing Sunrider and
spending some time on the beach. Drs. Chen graciously allowed us to spend
a week in their ocean front home on Oahu.
Let me share with you an experience I had in Hawaii. You remember Angela
and Jared from the ranch. Well, one day the three of us decided to just
go exploring and we found this fascinating lava flow on the ocean front.
While I pondered life's deeper mysteries, Angela and Jared were busy
observing the local flora and fauna ... namely chasing crabs and other
small crawly things. I saw them leaning over the edge and looking down
into the ocean so I wandered over to have a look. I peered over their
shoulders just as they were saying, "oh, look ..." and I said,
"wow, that is the largest turtle I've ever seen." (It appeared
to be about 3 feet long.) Angela and Jared were both surprised because
they were so intent on a small crab scurrying along the lava they missed
seeing the larger turtle floating just below them. I was amazed.
So my question is simply this, are we so focused on seeing the smaller
crabs in our business that we are missing the larger turtles in Sunrider?
For example, the Sugai's, some wonderful leaders in Hawaii, have found
how they can combine their Shiatsu business, a workout program, and Sunrider
to really kick their business into gear. They are experiencing significant
growth. They saw the turtle and acted on it.
I had a call today from a distributor who said they were getting discouraged
because they were not finding any new people. They wanted to know what
to do. The answer ... get around new people every day! You cannot do this
by living life the way you have in the past. As humans we tend to get
so focused on the crabs (the way we have always spent our time) and totally
miss the larger and very obvious turtles (the opportunities out there
that put us in touch with other people.)
Adjust your focus. What things are you doing now that can be changed so
you have time to meet new people? Where can you go to meet new people?
Is your vision such that you recognize the opportunities to share Sunrider's
financial opportunity? Are you involved in any niche markets that would
open doors?
Question ... are you so focused on the crab of hoping to sponsor maybe
one person a month to seeing the turtle of sponsoring two, five, or ten
a month?
Find the turtles!!!!!!!! They are amazing.
