It's the Journey … So Use What You Have … Today!

Dear Sunrider Business Leader,

The other day my son Jared came up to me and said, "Dad, I can't wait until I get out of High School."

I asked him, "Son, why is that?"

"It's so boring."

I replied, "Do you realize by the time you graduate you can have one or more years of college completed, be an accomplished pianist and oil painter, have trained two more horses, be a state champion swimmer, and be an accomplished writer?"

I could tell by the look on his face that he realized that it's not just getting somewhere in the future, but knowing where you want to go ... and making the journey every day. It's really all about the journey.

When my children ask me to tell them stories about my life I don't tell them, "Well, I'm a millionaire, have a big house, fancy cars, and an airplane. Who cares about that? What they want to know is what happened when the plane blew up just before we were suppose to get on, the close call on being kidnapped in Bangkok, singing karaoke to 3000 Chinese, having a 12' shark swim by while diving, landing my plane in a 20 knot crosswind, and the friends and people we have had funny and exciting daily experiences with. Arriving is boring ... getting there is a blast.

With my statement to Jared I reminded him of the things he loves and wants to accomplish. Will he still have boring teachers and subjects in high school? Absolutely. We all did, but every journey has the boring hours that we have to get through, the set backs that actually help us refocus on the objective. But in the end, if we give daily effort to the accomplishment of our goals and dreams ... we will arrive.

So the hypothetical IBO says to me, "Paul, I can't wait until I'm Group Business Leader."

"Do you realize that by the time you get there you can be an accomplished business person, a great writer and speaker, and can master the skills of personal communication, learn the laws and skills of personal finance and wealth, and have a host of new friends?"

Clearly define the vision you want to accomplish ... and enjoy the journey.

Use What You Have ... Today!

Every morning when you get out of bed, you can only build from where you are and with what you have. And no matter where you are and what you have ... you can move forward in building your Sunrider network.

In the spring of 2007 when the horse fell on me in the river, I woke up in the hospital from surgery on my leg and back, it was distressing to realize that the only thing that worked effectively was my mouth. Since I couldn't use it to eat due to no appetite, I decided to use it effectively by showing gratitude to any person who rendered me service. It was an amazing experience in appreciation and human bonding.

Then when I got home and my back was a little more functional, I could use my arms. So, wanting to start that day from where I was and with what I had, I called my neighbor and asked him to start teaching me how to play the guitar. So every Wednesday he would show up and give me a lesson. I would then lay in my recliner all week and struggle at playing the guitar. Some day I'll have to learn how to play sitting up.

Anyway, being musically challenged, I struggled to find a song I was familiar enough with that I could play the guitar and sing. Oddly enough, my mind coughed up from my dusty teen archives John Cash's song The Folsom Prison Blues. This became my theme song. After I'd, "killed a man in Reno, just to watch him die" about a thousand times, my wife said I needed to move on ... her voice suggesting that if I killed a man in Reno one more time there would be a ... well, lets not go there. I remember what my kid's violin lessons used to do to me. I asked Cheryl if I could "slap a man in Reno, just to watch him cry," but that introduces the moral issue of why I would be in Folsom Prison just for slapping a man. While Cheryl acknowledged the slapping was better ... it was time to move on. So now I'm beating You Are My Sunshine to death.

Back to my point ... I could have just watched TV for these five months and have my brain a lot softer and mushier, but I didn't. I decided to use what I had today and make the best of it ... and now am a pretty decent guitar player ... at least in killing a man in Reno. Playing the guitar is something I've always wanted to do, but never took the time. The jury is still way out on whether I ought to be singing with the guitar playing or not.

Often it is our false beliefs about ourselves and our circumstances that make us procrastinate until ...

I'll start when I lose a few more pounds or am healthy ...
When I get the kids raised ...
When I'm not so busy ...
When my spouse supports me ...
When we move to a better location ...
When I am in better health ...
When I learn to approach people better...
When I understand the marketing program ...
When Sunrider does ... whatever, you choose the topic ...

All of these reasons are the best arguments to start today to fulfill your dream of a new car, home, more travel, and better health through using more Sunrider product.

We have a great marketing plan, great products, excellent support from the company in the form of tools, conference calls, etc. If we will add our personal efforts today to this mix ... we can have whatever we want.

While getting to Group Business Leader or higher with homes, cars, travel, and lifestyle is the vision ... today ... we need to share Sunrider's financial opportunity and wonderful products with someone new. Sponsor two new distributors per month. Help them duplicate ... and it will all unfold with time.

Sincerely,

Paul Jensen
